Sample analysis, not a client

Sample analysis, not a client: Splosh (Newtown, UK)

Splosh sells refillable cleaning and household products online. We have no relationship with them. This is a public example of what we check, made from their public pages and two live ChatGPT answers.

What ChatGPT tells a shopper (measured 4 October 2026)

Measured in a logged-out ChatGPT session, browser language en-GB, from an IP outside the UK. Full answers are saved with timestamps.

"where can I buy eco friendly cleaning product refills online in the UK?" (06:51 UTC) Named: Bower Collective (best overall), Homethings, Ecover, MadeKind, Ekologik, Doctor Waste-Not Refills. Sources it showed include The Sun, The Guardian and Ethical Consumer. Splosh: not mentioned.

"best refillable cleaning products subscription in the UK" (06:52 UTC) Named: Smol (its pick), OceanSaver, Splosh, Homethings, Bower Collective. Splosh: named third, as "best full-house range", with a price point taken from a Which? comparison.

In these two answers, Splosh was named when the question said "subscription" and not when it said "where can I buy refills". One answer per wording is a snapshot, not a rule.

What we found on their own pages

Pages fetched 4 October 2026.

What is already right: product pages carry Product data with price, SKU, barcode and stock status.

What holds it back:

  1. Two "Kitchen cleaner" pages that only the photo tells apart. /products/kitchen-cleaner and /products/kitchen-cleaner-1 both return 200, each is its own canonical, and they share the same description word for word and the same £6.58 price. The photos show two different scents, but the name, description and Product data never say which scent is which. An AI tool reading the text sees two copies of one product.
  2. No reviews on product pages. The product pages show no review text and the Product data has no rating. In the subscription answer, the price point ChatGPT quoted for Splosh came from a Which? comparison; review evidence on Splosh's own pages could give it more to use.
  3. The homepage does not say what Splosh sells. The page title is "Splosh – Splosh Limited" and the main heading (H1) is empty. Words a shopper uses, such as "refill" or "eco cleaning", are missing from both.

Three fixes, in order

  1. Put the scent in each kitchen cleaner page's name, description and Product data. Then check the other "-1" and "copy-of" product URLs (for example /products/copy-of-kitchen-cleaner, /products/shower-gel-1) the same way.
  2. Collect product reviews on product pages and include the rating in the Product data.
  3. Rewrite the homepage title and H1 around what Splosh is: refillable eco cleaning products delivered in the UK.

Evidence: full ChatGPT answers (06:51:55Z and 06:52:23Z UTC) and copies of the pages, both saved on 4 October 2026, available on request.
