We asked Perplexity "best solicitor in [town], UK" or "best family law solicitor in [town], UK" once for each of 27 UK towns, on 27 September 2026 and 28 September 2026, some for a solicitor and some for a family law solicitor. Where a town was asked more than once, only the first run is counted.
The answers named an average of 4.8 firms or solicitors each, and every answer named at least one.
Which sites get cited
reviewsolicitors.co.uk, a review directory of UK solicitors, was cited in 27 of the 27 answers, more than any other source. solicitor.info, a site comparing solicitors by rating, followed in 15 of 27, and trustpilot.com in 14 of 27. wiselaw.co.uk, a directory of family and divorce solicitors by town, appeared in 13 of 27, and solicitors.com, a directory with law articles and advice, in 11 of 27.
Five things to check first
- Claim or update your profile on reviewsolicitors.co.uk, with your areas of work, office addresses and contact details current.
- Check your solicitor.info listing shows your correct practice areas and the reviews you have.
- Check your trustpilot.com page and reply to recent reviews.
- Check your wiselaw.co.uk and solicitors.com listings show your current town and specialisms.
- Run the search for your own town occasionally. This is one run per question; a second run can name different firms.
None of the five sites above is the firm's own website. A clear service page on your own site is still worth having, but it answers a different question to the one we logged here, which is the list of sources Perplexity showed under its answer about solicitors in a specific town.
What this means in practice
The highest counts in this sample belong to review and comparison directories: reviewsolicitors.co.uk at 27 of 27, solicitor.info at 15 of 27 and trustpilot.com at 14 of 27. wiselaw.co.uk and solicitors.com came lower, at 13 of 27 and 11 of 27.
Method and limits
- Engine: Perplexity only. We also track Google AI Overviews separately; this page covers Perplexity.
- 27 questions, one UK town each, answered on 27 September 2026 and 28 September 2026. A repeated town is counted once, using the first run only.
- A source counts once per answer even if the domain appears more than once in that answer's source list; "cited in X of 27" means X separate answers listed that domain somewhere.
- The solicitor.info count includes a citation where the source link was cut short and we matched it to this domain; without it, solicitor.info and trustpilot.com would be level.
- We do not name any firm or solicitor on this page. The figures above come from our own run of these questions and can be checked by repeating them and reading the source list for each answer.
